About

Josh Moshier is a pianist and composer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Northwestern University, where he studied jazz piano with Joan Hickey, jazz arranging with Tom Garling and classical orchestration with Aaron Travers. His music has been performed by Dick Oatts with the Northwestern Jazz Ensemble, The Joel Spencer Quartet and by Chuck Owen & the Jazz Surge at the 2008 International Jazz Composers Symposium. Josh has written arrangements for Hal Leonard (All About Trumpet) and composed music for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Josh co-leads a band with saxophonist Mike Lebrun which features John Tate on bass, Jon Deitemyer on drums and John Moulder on guitar. Their group has performed in Chicago at The Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club and Uncommon Ground in addition to performances in Washington DC and San Francisco.

Joy Not Jaded, his debut full-length recording with Mike Lebrun, was released by OA2 Records in October 2009. Josh was recently awarded a Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grant, commissioning an extended work celebrating the life and writing of Chicagoan Studs Terkel.

Josh is active as an educator, currently serving as the director of the Jazz Ensemble at Wheaton College. He taught private jazz piano lessons at Benedictine University from 2008 to 2010.
